The NarmourWright team participated in this year’s CANstruction event – in an effort to “Make hunger EXTINCT”! Every year, AIA Charlotte hosts a build day at the Convention Center where the AEC community gathers in friendly competition for a good cause. All the cans used in the sculptures are donated to Second Harvest Food Bank to help feed hungry families in the Metrolina area. Thanks to our wonderful sponsors, we were able to raise $2450 and used about 1200 cans in our “dino” sculpture.
For fun, a jury selected and awarded the following teams with: Best Meal & People’s Choice – Wright McGraw Beyer, Structural Ingenuity – Neighboring Concepts and Miles McClellan, Best Use of Labels – Little & Edifice, Most Cans & Best Original Design – BSB Design, and Juror’s Favorite – ai Design Group. Of course we can’t forget those who had an Honorable Mention: Angelo Architects/McVeigh & Mangum Engineering, Little/HarkerDoerre, McMillan Pazdan Smith/Gilbane, LS3P/NOVA Engineering/JE Dunn Construction, Odell/Alfred Williams/R.J. Leeper Construction, The RBA Group, and NARMOURWRIGHT Architecture.
Again, we’d like to thank our generous sponsors – Discovery Place; Flat Creek Construction; Design Resource Group; Moisture Intrusion Solutions; Theresa L. Kitay, Attorney at Law; Barringer Construction; Charlotte Mechanical; VP Engineering; Brown Investment Properties; Hamilton; Stephens; Steele & Martin; PLLC; McVeigh & Mangum Engineering; Charter Properties; Carocon; Shaw Contract Group and Chevington Associates. We couldn’t have done it without you!
